About us
At inception in 2002, the National Development Foundation (NDEF) had as main objective to cater for people living with disability, young orphans, widows and other vulnerable people in society. A few years later, NDEF decided not to ‘give out fish’ to hungry persons all the time, thus the Organisation opted for the provision of
technical and sustainable solutions to the problems of destitute people instead. From 2005, NDEF changed orientation from social relief activities to technically empowering clients to fend for themselves. This is typically done in collaboration
with like-minded organisations whose activities streamline with those of NDEF. We now work to empower smallholder farmers to use improved technical and sustainable agricultural practices to reduce the vulnerability of their households to food, health and income insecurity while ensuring a sound environmental management.
